ABOUT DAVID
David was born in Kirby Muxloe on 19th September 1985. He has lived
in Leicester throughout his whole life and has an older brother and
younger sister.
David first got involved with Takeover Radio properly in February
2006 when he arrived to begin work on Production for the station and
also become the Adult Cover presenter.
He first covered the Lunchtime Show for the whole week of 20th-24th
February 2006. The week went quite successful with the odd glitch
here and there, but considering no previous radio experience and
training whatsoever, it was a great effort.
In March 2006, then Lunchtime presenter Gareth decided to leave the
station due to other commitments so on Monday 20th March 2006, David
became the full time presenter of the Lunchtime Show - and he has
presented on everything single weekday since, which is surely some
feat!
In August 2006, David became Takeover Radio's Programme Controller,
which means he looks after the programming side of things whilst the
station manager is away. The two will also come up with creative
ideas together which will benefit the station as a whole.
One of the greatest ideas they ever came up with was the idea of the
Hairbrush Hour which launched on Monday 13th November 2006 and meant
the Lunchtime Show was now extended until 3pm.
As Takeover
Radio only plays new music, the Hairbrush Hour was to create a break
from that and bring more fun into the weekday by playing feel-good
old songs that you just have to stop what you're doing and sing
along to. AND, it certainly worked!
In April 2008, David is now enjoying his 25th consecutive month as
presenter of the Lunchtime Show and he feels that the show continues
to get stronger each day.

"You have to
show passion for your country... right?!"
|
OFF-AIR LIFESTYLE
Away from the microphone, David enjoys spending time with his
long-term girlfriend Becki and is also the resident DJ at weekends
in the Over 18's only city centre bar, The Sun.
David is very passionate about the music he enjoys and is also very
passionate about his football team - Manchester United. He's been to
hundreds of games over the years and gets the passion from his dad
who brought him up into supporting the same team.
GET TO KNOW HIM...
What's your favourite music genre?
Definately Dance music because I grew up listening to and have
always been passionate about the genre. I also like listening to a
bit of R&B too. Cheesy music is definately always great too. I'd say
my favourite artists would be 50 Cent because he has such a laid
back attitude to his music and doesn't care what people think and I
also like Rihanna.
What was your worst on air moment?
Hmmm, I've never really had a moment that I look back on and think
"Oh that was horrible". I always think that if you forget things,
they aren't that important. So in that context, I've forgot anything
bad so hence it must not be important!
What was your best on air moment?
Everyday has it's moments. So long as there's banter and fun between
me and the listeners, that's a good moment for me! If I picked one
moment though, it would probably be when me and Omar did a show
together close to Christmas 2006 and we had a contest where
listeners chose who they wanted to sing karaoke at the end of the
show. I lost (or won as I saw it) and Omar had to sing to "Barbie
Girl" by Aqua. It was a good laugh.
What was your first job?
Working in a kitchen at a hotel. I quit within 2 months because
there was no way I was going to miss going to United vs Tottenham!!
Who is the most famous person you've ever met?
WWE's 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair. He's a 16 time world champion, a
wrestling icon to many throughout the world and I got to interview
him along with Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch too. Sadly he stormed out
when another interviewer asked a question Flair took offense too.
What made you want to become a Radio Presenter?
I would always listen to the radio on the way to football matches -
and it was a long journey on the M1, A50, M6, M56 etc etc. I then
got the bug of wanting to be a radio presenter and it evolved from
there. The trouble was that I never had any confidence whatsoever so
I never dared to apply. But when my mate Gareth got involved at
Takeover, I also came along too and it all went from there.
How did you become a DJ too then?
This all started out in a strange way. My and a mate of mine were
having a go on a pair of vinyl decks in a local store. I had never
really been on a pair before but I loved it and decided I wanted to
learn more. But rather than saving up for decks, I went out and
bought Vinyls instead! I then realised they took up too much space
and began buying CD's. I then went on to teach myself how to
beatmatch and other tricks.
What's the best thing about Takeover?
Presenting a show to a fantastic bunch of listeners who I have built
up a huge friendship with. I've met many listeners through my other
job and everyone of them has been so kind.
Final words?
Thank you to everyone that listens and has good things about the
show, it means the world to me! Keep listening and remember to check
out the Myspace or Facebook and add me as a friend!

+ David has appeared on TV three times. The first time was on a news
segment on ITN about something to do with local police and he
appeared in a couple of shots aged around 7 back then. The second
and third times were at Manchester United games away to Ajax (August
2002) and at home to Everton (October 2002) in which he was seen
chanting in the crowd.
+ David has spent over 1500 hours of his life on air at Takeover
Radio since February 2006.
+ David's favourite songs of all time are "You're Shining" by Styles
& Breeze, "Anonymous" by Bobby V. "I just like the songs" says
David, "I'm not one of these people that looks too in-depth into the
song for lyrical content, production elements etc".
